Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month recognizes and honor the history, contributions, and achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in our state and nation. In Issaquah there are an estimated 9,853 Asian Pacific American residents in the City of Issaquah, which represents 24.6% of our population.
We acknowledge past and current hardship and continued inequities that exist for Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, and we strive to foster inclusion and advance equity practices that provide all members of our community opportunities to thrive in a just society.
In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we invite you review the resources below for ways to celebrate the invaluable contributions that enrich our community with Asian Pacific heritage, and to educate ourselves on ways in which we can all contribute to stop the horrific hate crimes against our Asian American neighbors.
