Pickleball Options in Issaquah are Growing

PickleballTopNews

Today marks the one-year anniversary of pickleball becoming the official sport of Washington. While it may have been invented on Bainbridge Island, the Issaquah community has embraced the sport as its own. In 2021, the City incorporated six pickleball courts on existing tennis courts throughout the Issaquah parks system. That decision has been incredibly popular with residents.

For 2023, we are making a few additional modifications and additions to our outdoor pickleball offerings:

  • At Tibbetts Valley Park (TVP), four additional pickleball courts will be overlaid on the existing courts, bringing the total to six pickleball courts at TVP.
  • At Central Park, two additional pickleball courts will be overlaid on existing courts, bringing the total to four pickleball courts. We are planning on installing acoustic/wind screening at Central Park to work towards dampening much of the pickleball sound at the courts for the surrounding neighborhood. We will continue to maintain that pickleball is prohibited prior to 9 A.M. on those courts.
  • With the new pickleball court completed at Blackberry Park in the South Lake Sammamish neighborhood, the overlaid pickleball courts at Meerwood Park will be removed.

In total, the Issaquah parks system will feature 11 outdoor pickleball courts available for public use once the striping of the new courts is completed later this spring/summer.

Remember: Be respectful and follow the established rules that encourage sharing of these public courts.
