[ARCHIVED] Police Arrest Man for Assaulting 6-Week-Old Infant

A 36-year-old Issaquah man was arrested Jan. 6, 2014, on suspicion of assault of a child.

The man and his wife originally brought their 6-week-old infant son into Swedish Hospital in Issaquah with a serious head injury.

The infant was later transported to Children’s Hospital in Seattle due to the seriousness of the child’s injuries. Doctors, who determined the cause was abuse, treated the child for skull fractures and possible brain trauma.

A social worker at Children’s Hospital contacted Issaquah police on Jan. 3, 2014, when the suspicious injuries were discovered. The infant was treated for two skull fractures, brain swelling and bruising.

The couple’s children were taken into protective custody by law enforcement and are currently living with a family member. The infant has since been released from the hospital.

The father will be booked into King County Jail.
