[ARCHIVED] Welcome: Fred Butler Starts as Issaquah's New Leader

With a commitment to serve our community, Fred Butler formally took office Jan. 6, 2014, as mayor of Issaquah.

“I will do my best to represent our citizens and the City of Issaquah with wisdom and compassion,” he said in his first address as the City's elected leader.

Butler was elected mayor in November 2013 to succeed former Mayor Ava Frisinger, who served for 16 years.

Issaquah Municipal Court Judge N. Scott Stewart administered the oaths of office to Butler and four recently elected Issaquah City Council members at the council’s Jan. 6 meeting. See photos from the ceremony on a href="" target="_blank">Facebook.

Butler previously served on the council, to which he was first elected in 1999 and subsequently re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2011. To learn more, visit
