On Dec. 16, 2013, the Issaquah City Council revised the City’s land use and engineering permit fees. View all the changes at issaquahwa.gov/feeupdate. The new fees will become effective April 1, 2014.
The fees were changed to:
• Ensure Issaquah fully recovers its costs to review permits.
• Create a citywide fee schedule, rather than use a variety of fee schedules, including time and materials billing.
• Offer our customers more flat rates, less itemized fees.
• Be more consistent with fees charged in neighboring cities.
• Update fees that have not been significantly evaluated or increased since 2006.
Most land use and engineering permit fees will change. Issued permits with fees already paid will not change. Building permit fees will not change.
Under the new fee structure, the applicant will not pay full-cost recovery for the following items:
• Small businesses – exterior improvements
• Homeowners – construction and home businesses
• Early collaboration steps in the permit process
• Code flexibility
• Appeals
• Affordable housing
“The people who live and work in Issaquah are committed to preserving and enhancing what makes this community such a special place” said Dave Favour, the City’s interim Development Services Department director. “We are confident that our new permit fees will allow us to continue to provide outstanding customer service – both to applicants and our entire community.”
