Hit the beach at the 2014 Northwest Paddling Festival — the largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
The free event at Lake Sammamish State Park brings paddle sports retailers, manufacturers and athletes together in one location. The festival, which runs May 9-10, 2014, will feature more than 60 paddle sports businesses offering canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, paddling equipment, accessories and gear.
The festivities include the Northwest Paddling Challenge, with a six-mile course for kayakers, stand-up paddleboarders and outriggers in a spectator-friendly race around the shores of Lake Sammamish.
Attendees can shop, browse the best in paddle sports brands side-by-side, enjoy a guided kayak tour around the lake, test their skills in stand-up paddleboard clinics and more.
The festival will run from 2-7 p.m. May 9 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 10. Admission is free. Parking is $10 or free with a Discover Pass. To learn more, visit northwestpaddlingfestival.com.
