[ARCHIVED] Issaquah Hall of Fame: Ava Frisinger Inducted

Former Mayor Ava Frisinger, a dedicated advocate for our community and a public servant for most of her adult life, is the 2014 inductee into the Issaquah Hall of Fame.

A resident of Issaquah for more than four decades, Frisinger served as mayor for 16 years — from 1998 until December 2013. During that time, as Issaquah grew more than 170 percent, she successfully balanced our community’s environmental, economic and social needs and cemented Issaquah’s reputation as a regional leader.

“I am proud to recognize my friend, Ava Frisinger, for her decades of service to our community,” Mayor Fred Butler said. “Through her efforts as mayor, councilmember and citizen, Ava contributed immeasurably to shape the vibrant community and excellent quality of life that we all enjoy.”

Beyond City Hall, Frisinger remains a member of committees, commissions and boards throughout our region. She is president of the Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery executive board and, time permitting, volunteers as a docent at the hatchery when the salmon return in the fall.

Each spring, the mayor and City Council president select a person to honor for making a difference in the community. The honoree is chosen for his or her inspiration, service, leadership, length of service to our community and other criteria.

Frisinger received the award May 22, 2014, at Issaquah’s 35th Annual Community Awards Event sponsored by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce.
