Salmon Friendly Trips
Bike to Work Day

We encourage all residents, employees, employers and visitors to try more salmon-friendly travel options, including carpool, vanpool, transit, biking, walking, and teleworking whenever possible! Changing just one or two trips a week is a small change that can still make a big difference!

Why Salmon?
Salmon have a special presence in Issaquah. By having a salmon as our mascot, we want everyone in the community to think about the connection between transportation choices and the impacts those choices have on our environment, which is critical to the health of our salmon.

Choosing a Salmon Friendly Trip creates a more sustainable environment for all of us — and we're here to help you make your choice!

Community Engagement
And to help make that choice even more fun—we launched a resident engagement campaign from fall 2018 to spring 2019 to recognize and reward Salmon Friendly Trips to and from Issaquah’s Central, Olde Town, and Highlands business districts.

How do I participate?
  1. Look for your Salmon Friendly Trips Passport in the mail or pick one up from participating businesses or Issaquah City Hall. You can also print one here or request one to be mailed to you here
  2. Plan a Salmon Friendly Trip to one or more participating businesses. Your passport shows participating businesses and includes a map with bus stops, trails, and access points that will make your journey fun and easy.
  3. Collect passport stamps when you visit participating businesses using a Salmon Friendly Trip mode. Every trip counts!
    • The business will provide a sticker to verify your trip. Place the sticker on your passport under the participating business’ name.
    • Once you’ve collected six stickers from participating businesses, you’re eligible to win prizes!
  4. Submit your passport!
    • Take a photo of your completed passport and email the image to OR post to your social media page and use the hashtag #salmonfriendlytrips.
